Right after the final day of the school year at the Rivne Ukrainian Gymnasium has been held a Christian day camp. It had been already the fifth year in a row that organization IPO “Hope to people” hosts such a camp which is supervised by Ruslana Kovalchuk for children of grades 5-7.
The topic of this camp “Unexpected Journey” has been absolutely suitable and from the very beginning there were a lot of surprises, situations that came out of the blue and interesting spontaneous journeys. That has been actually the reason why, every participant of this camp had a chance to realize for themselves this particular verse from the Bible “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.” (Proverbs 27:1), which has been our motto.
Every day the camp has been starting out with the glorification of the Lord – children were singing Christian songs and prayed together. Afterwards, we had the Bible study lesson in groups. This time we have been studying the history of Joseph. Children have been learning on how to build up relationships into a family, with a friends, and most important with God. They have reflected on the themes of forgiveness, fulfillment of God’s promises and confidence in God. After the Bible lesson, girls were engaged in handiwork, and boys had sports time. Let’s not forget that following the delicious lunch had to be a game for the whole camp.
The kids were very friendly and watchful. Regardless of the competition
between the teams, the victory itself was not the main point. Mentors became a good friends with children, and a living example of the relationship with Jesus.
We also had the opportunity to visit the children’s festival in “Pokrovsky” Cathedral. Moreover, we went to the zoo. The children were so excited about these short spontaneous journeys.
The last day of the camp has fallen on the Ascension Day. Sister Ruslana Anatoliyvna explained the core meaning of this holiday to children and there was a very good opportunity to openly speak about the Gospel.
We are thankful to everyone who prayed and supported us in the camp.
It has been a blessed time both for children and staff. Please pray for the hearts of
these children so that the sown Word would grow and they received Christ.
