This was the topic of the winter camp of the Christian soccer team “Hope” in the Transcarpathians. The mutual celebration of Christmas was a good reminder to everyone about the reasons of Christ’s life as a human and shows what He wants from us. Every morning started with Bible readings in groups, lead by group leaders. After that, we played soccer, went skiing, ice skating, and other things, which made this trip unforgettable. After lunch, everybody was meeting in the gym for the Bible program.
On the third day of the camp, we had a military-sport game: “The assault of the mountain.” Each team with all members had to reach the top of the mountain. For the reason that each of the four teams had little boys and girls, the task was not easy. In the beginning, some began to panic that they won’t reach the top, which they don’t even try. At times, teams had an extremely hard time: lack of oxygen, had to carry the little ones, and help the girls. Regardless of all this, they were full of joy when they reached the top! On the top, we had a short sermon about what happens when God gives us assignments which seem impossible to accomplish. However, we have to keep going, not stop, and believe that God gives enough strength to overcome the obstacles.
The specialty of the camp was that the older members of the soccer team “Hope” were the coaches and group leaders for younger boys. It felt like one big family arrived to a camp.
Bogdan, 12 years old: “This is the best camp in my entire life. We stayed in wonderful rooms, had good food. We read the Bible every day, and listened to the sermons. However, I remember the testimony of uncle Lyosha the most. We had a hard trip to the top of the mountain and an interesting soccer game with the local team, which we won with the score 7:4. At camp, I was skiing and ice-skating for the first time in my life. I have unforgettableimpressions!”
Dmitrij, 13 years old: “I am thankful God for this camp, at which I enjoyed trips in the mountains, skiing, and Bible lessons. I especially enjoyed celebrating Christmas!”
Sasha, 9 years old: “I received the answers to the questions which worried me, in the camp. I understood what Godreally wants from me. He wants me to give myself 100%!”
Dmitrij, 18 years old: “I am very happy that I could serve as a small group leader in this camp. I was not only teaching others, but learning myself.”
