The Lord continues to build His Church in Armenia. Through various events that are happening in the world, the Lord shows how important small home groups are because this is a wonderful place for growth, joyous fellowship, and support.
Our ministers Sevak and Nina lead Armenian and Russian-speaking groups, as well as separate women’s and men’s meetings. And it bears its fruit! Unbelieving friends of church members come over to these groups and have the opportunity to ask questions that concern them and hear the answers and testimonies of those who have already entrusted their lives to Jesus Christ. Pray for this service in Yerevan and other cities, that the Lord will give wisdom to the leaders of the small groups and speak to the hearts of all participants.
Armenia has an interesting tradition of celebrating Women’s Month from March 8 to April 7. And our ministers decided to take advantage of it and hold a big meeting for women. During the fellowship, God’s Word was preached abundantly, and at the end, all those willing could approach the ministers and talk to them personally.
Brothers Karapet and Araik with their families also lead home groups, where they teach and encourage brothers and sisters to boldly testify to their faith, primarily to their family members and employees. Much attention is paid to praying for each other and non-believing relatives. One of the important things about these groups is that they are held in different people’s homes and each time the hosts invite their neighbors, relatives, and friends, in addition to church members. And this gives the opportunity to hear the gospel to a wider circle of people.
Brother Jamal and his family also continue to serve and thank the Lord for his care. In the spring, they bought 40 tons of gravel using the donated funds by Christians from different places and worked on fixing the road to the house of prayer in the mountain village where they carry out their ministry. The principal of the local school and the residents of the village came to the church to give thanks, because it was a good testimony for the village and a good thing for many people.
In the spring, volunteer doctors from America visited one of the mountain villages. They organized free doctor’s appointments for the local people and gave away necessary medicine. It was a very good time for both believers and non-believers. People came directly to the house of prayer and were very satisfied, because there were no doctors or paramedics in the surrounding villages, and there was no pharmacy nearby. The Kurds themselves are poorly educated in matters of health and personal hygiene, and many still resort to various superstitions instead of professional medical care. As a result, many suffer from various sicknesses. Such ministry became a great blessing for them.
Also, our brothers continue to visit Yazidis in mountain settlements. Both believers and non-believers come to such meetings. Everyone listens to the Scriptures together, prays, and communicates. One believing man told how God miraculously saved them. During a thunderstorm, he and his wife were milking cows near a pole, due to a strong lightning strike the pole was blown to pieces, but by the grace of God they were not hurt, and the cows were not hurt either, although they were nearby. This is a great testimony of God’s mercy and protection.
Please continue to pray for Armenia, that the Lord will protect this country from war and grant people salvation and wisdom to seek Him. Pray for our ministers that they will have everything they need to carry out their ministry.
