Thanks to the spiritual and organizational support of IPO “Hope to people”, on 20-27th July 2014 in Transcarpathian region was held a camp-seminar for teachers of Ukraine “How to be a wise parent in this crazy world.” There were representatives from different cities of Ukraine: Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Rivne, Zdolbunov.
Never before parents and teachers have had to go through such hard times as nowadays. It seems that the modern world has become insane. However, there are constantly encountered examples in the long human history of how God has worked in people’s lives. Likewise, He is willing to act in our lives. Teachers shared their work experience and lessons learned from their own life. God showed how He used everything that happens to all the members of their families for coming to Him.
Obedience is the most important commandment of God for children. Whatever our task is – to bring up a child in the sanctity or simply to clean the house – we want to have an obedient child at home, at school or in the kindergarten. How is it possible to achieve this, as far as children may not share our desire? What to do? Where to start? We know that obedience is developed gradually. This process is led by God and it is obligatory for children, which He has given us for a while. Teachers shared about the ways used in the learning process to achieve these objectives on the basis of God’s commandments (Deuteronomy. 6:4-9).
For seven days we have been studying the Word of God, which has taught us to discipline children. This means to teach them to be obedient to God and His Word on the laws of the consequences of their actions, by clear guidance in the atmosphere of love (Proverbs 3:11-12). How to teach your children this? Teachers told from their experience that the biblical education sometimes requires decisive words. Scripture speaks of the power of the “word, well said” (Proverbs 25:11). Sometimes words can make something that can’t be done with our deeds. God’s recipe – it’s actions and words.
We are truly grateful to God and to all those who took part in organizing and conducting workshops for teachers of Ukraine.
“Friends! My colleagues from the Association of Christian teachers were 8 days in the camp for teachers of “Christian Ethics” from all over Ukraine (although the geography of the city was not as wide as in previous years, due to the situation in the country). We are sincerely grateful to the organizers – Alexander Makarovich and Valentina and dear colleagues for joint prayers, trainings, exchange of experiences, dialogues, interesting excursions. We thank God for the opportunity of rest and inspiration!” Anna Katsov.
