…God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth… Psalm 65:5
Greetings to everyone! Thank you for your interest in the news of the Christian Mission Hope to People as well as for your prayer support! Please read in this newsletter about the blessings and the events during the month of February. This time, we decided to start with the brief presentation of our work at the far-off mission fields and to finish it with our Ukrainian news…
Ministry in Central Asia
As far as you remember, over three years ago, the family of our ministers had no choice but leave one of the countries in Central Asia. However, by faith, they decided not to return back home, but instead, they have settled in a neighboring country of Central Asia. Throughout this time, they have successfully nurtured disciples and gave themselves to serving a lot of families. Using their life as a model and their disciple-making, the Lord miraculously healed broken marriages and led some unbelieving spouses to repentance and covenant with Christ. There have been many changes in Central Asia over the years, and the Lord is again opening the door to returning this Christian family to a country that is in dire need of such ministers. Please pray for the opportunity of moving to the place of ministry.
Ministry in Italy
Our minister in Italy is very grateful to God and to all brothers and sisters who participated in helping cancer patients. Brother, Yaroslav, Dovhyy, along with his family, helps a lot of Russian-speaking people from the post-Soviet space, who come to this country hoping to get treatment for serious illnesses, to settle down in the country.
Finally, they managed to rent an apartment that is able to accommodate quite a few people. Thank God the ministry of the Children’s Bible Club, which is attended by the children of the migrant workers, functions without ceasing. Children have grown and are concerned with more profound and serious question now. Please continue praying for the development of the ministry in Caserta, for the protection of Dovhyys family from the widespread epidemic, and that the Lord would grant them wisdom in encouraging and guiding people that God gave them.
Ministry of the Christian Soccer Team
Thank God for an outreach ministry through the Christian Children’s Youth Soccer Club Nadia! Currently, the practice is being attended by almost 100 guys, who are divided into 7 age groups. The youngest group of soccer players is under the age of 4.5! The oldest team consists of young adults. There are 7 coaches who serve in the club. We ask you to continue praying for the preaching of the Gospel, for strengthening the faith of those who have already accepted Christ, for the children’s parents, for holding summer camps, and for further preparation of documents on the land and for drawing up blueprints for the construction of the soccer field.
Meetings with Teachers of Rivne Region
On February 5, 2020, our staff held a seminar for teachers of Rivne region – cadets of Rivne Regional Institute of Postgraduate Teacher Education. There were 15 teachers at the event. Ruslana Kovalchuk presented an exhibition of paintings “The Life of Jesus Christ in the Works of World-renowned Artists,” and demonstrated fragments of lessons on the subject “Fundamentals of Christian Ethics.” Arkady Slyoza presented the Christian pedagogical magazine “Word to the Teacher,” and explained the possibilities of becoming subscriber through the Ukrainian Post Office which is in any settlement of Ukraine and called teachers to cooperate by writing articles for the magazine.
Meeting with Students and Teachers
On February 12, 2020, employees of the Christian ethics department also had an opportunity to meet with teachers and students of 8-11 grades of the Myrne Lyceum of Kostopil district in the Rivne region. Thank God, 60 people heard what our co-workers had to say to them! The most important thing is that during a mobile exhibition of paintings “The Life of Jesus Christ…” the gospel was preached! The teachers received the Christian spiritual-enlightening magazine “The Word to the Teacher” and learned more about the work of Hope to People.
Visitation by Friends
In early spring, we were visited by our friends from Belgium, Pierre, and Michou, who are involved in Audio Vie Belgique ministry for many years. This volunteer organization runs an international ministry in cooperation with the Global Gospel Records Network, which operates mainly in French-speaking countries. Our dear guests worked real hard putting in a lot of working hours to create audio recordings of the gospel on digital media in the languages of the people groups who are served by missionaries of our mission. In particular, for people groups which are not yet reached with the gospel. They also provided adaptable illustrations that can be put to good use in teaching the Bible lessons for children, regardless of their native language and they brought some technical equipment for our staff. The model of their dedication to ministry is an encouragement to each one of us.
