In order to reach people’s hearts, God uses different ways. We are already kind of used to evangelizing through music, sports, and art, but this time something completely extraordinary happened.
On October 16, 2022, an outreach meeting was held in the assembly hall of the Klevan Special School # 1 with the musical group “Melody of Two Hearts” (Zdolbuniv) and magician Oleksandr Moroka (Kharkov) with the program “Focuses that Surprise and Inspire.”
The event was organized by mission employees Arkady Slyoza and Ruslana Kovalchuk, who since April 2022 has been taking care of displaced people from Severodonetsk, Slovyansk, and Mirnograd living in the school’s dormitory.
Long before the beginning, the employees of the institution and the refugees, especially the children, eagerly awaited the arrival of the guests. We sincerely thank the school administration and its director Yevgenia Vasylivna Falko for all their help!
The meeting went well – it was interesting and useful. The children were delighted that Oleksandr Moroka, who himself is a refugee from Kharkiv, involved them in magic tricks. Through tricks, using symbols of colors and objects, he conveyed the gospel message to the audience.
Valery and Alla Levchuk shared their salvation stories and glorified God with wonderful songs to the accompaniment of guitar and bandura, encouraging everyone to join in the worship.
People listened attentively and took everything that was said to their hearts.
At the end of the meeting, the children received gifts from the Samaritan’s Bag Mission, and the adults received Josh McDowell’s book “Not Just a Carpenter” and sweets. Ruslana Kovalchuk joked that they can eat one wafer at the beginning of the reading, and the second – only after finishing. Her words were taken seriously and they promised to read the given book and read the Bible regularly.
Please pray that they will succeed in doing this and that, through reading God’s Word, people will come to know the living true God and Savior Jesus Christ.
The meeting ended with a corporate Lord’s Prayer. But communication continued. One woman from Sloviansk, who has Parkinson’s disease, approached the musicians and asked for permission to play the bandura. It was her longtime dream to pick up her favorite instrument again. Praise God that He knows everyone’s needs!
