On March 18, 2015, the first practice of the floorball team, which later received the name SKY, took place. Why SKY? Because in sports, we strive to reach heights, and SKY is part of Heaven, the highest point we all strive for, where our Great Lord lives and we try to help as many people as possible make it to heaven.
During these eight years, hundreds of children, teenagers, and young people have gone through our floorball club classes and therefore have repeatedly heard the gospel. Among them are those whom God brought to Himself, made His children, and now they are engaged in this ministry, announcing to others the Good News of salvation, which fundamentally changed their lives.
On the occasion of the floorball club’s birthday, we held a party where we invited everyone, who is currently playing in three schools in Rivne, as well as those who have not played in the club for a long time but are part of its history. Altogether, we remembered how God had led us all these eight years. Many things have changed, but the vision of the club remains unchanged – to preach the gospel through floorball and make people disciples of Christ, who will be able to teach others (2 Timothy 2:2)
In addition to reviewing the history of the club, we played games, held contests, drank tea with cookies, and of course, listened to the Word of God from the letter of the apostle Paul to the Philippians, in which he talks about what the highest reward is and how to achieve it. It is called Heavenly reward, and it is available only to those who believe in Jesus Christ and try to pass the message of salvation on to others without stopping.
A week after our celebration, we had the biggest trip to the competition in the entire history of the club – we went to Lutsk with our five teams. For the first time, there were so many of us that we had to rent a big bus because we could no longer fit in the church pews. It was not an easy, but interesting journey. One of our teams was constantly on the field, while other SKY teams rooted for them. The whole day was very stressful because there were many children. But this is what they have been waiting for. It was a good time when we could be together both on and off the field.
We thank God for the path through which He led us! Thank you for your prayers – they contributed to all our work and this is why we have so many children who can now play on the team. Please continue to pray for the repentance of these children, for the spiritual growth and unity of the team of ministers, for the spiritual regeneration of those teenagers who have been on the team for a long time and seem to be very close to coming to Christ, and for the recruitment of new children. May our Great God be glorified in this ministry!
