During the years of activity of the Christian Soccer Club Nadia, it has developed its own traditions and rules. Praying a prayer before a game or having a Bible lesson as a required part of the training does not surprise anybody for a long time.
With the beginning of the war, another component was added – a prayer for the defenders of Ukraine. The boys pray for the Armed Forces in general and for those soldiers by names who are either former players of Nadia or are relatives of Nadia players (father, brother, etc.). Their photos are even put up on the stand. Unfortunately, one of them is already in a black frame…
But today’s story is about an exciting event.
Pavlo trained and played in Nadia from 2015 to 2019. In September 2021, he was called up as a conscript to service in the army, and now he is fighting in the Kharkiv region. Going on vacation and coming home for a week, he couldn’t help but drop by Nadia. The young soccer players were overjoyed to see the one they were praying to be safe and sound, they peppered him with questions.
When he opened up about the needs of his military unit, it turned out that the most urgent was the purchase of a diesel generator. Without further ado, the coach passed this information onto parents, coaches, and church groups on social media. Pavlo was pleasantly surprised that the necessary funds were raised on short notice. So, he informed his commander about this, and he also expressed his sincere gratitude to the soccer players and their parents for such support.
For their part, the children promised to continue praying for Ukrainian soldiers and for the speedy victory of Ukraine!
