The Education Department of the International organization “Hope to People” and the Second Presbyterian Church of Memphis, organized a Christian camp for students and orphanage graduates from Rivne region, involving students from Colomya (01/07/13 – 01/14/13).
The camp was held in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Forty people stayed in the quiet village as a Christian family. There were students from Kyiv, Rivne, Zdolbunov, Colomya, Ostroh, and orphanage graduates from Klevan, Mizoch and Alexandria. The team prepared a camp program “Find your own way.” Anatoly Pischalyuk and John Whittemore were preaching about Christmas, the life of Jesus Christ in the Gospels, who is God? Who is a man? Where did he come from? Where is he going? Who is a Christian? What is a sin? What is written in the Bible? Find your way (John.14:6). How to follow Jesus Christ?
Before the sermon we were studying the book of Psalms. We watched and discussed the Chip Ingram’s seminar “How to control the destructive emotions.”
Special blessing for all was skiing, sledding, snowboarding. It was a great joy and a blessing to see the beauty of the mountains and nature that the Lord has made.
The students reviews:
“ Camp was filled with joy. The rooms we stayed in were decorated with wood; it was always clean, food was tasty and filling. From the seminar, I have found out that my type of anger is “firework.” I know this now and can learn to control my emotions. I want to ask you to pray about me, for me to learn to control my emotions.”
After watching the seminar, I understood that at the busy times, when I try to do several things in the same time, I show my anger quit often. I realized that I need to slow down and endure my life. The problem is that I love busy-ness and routine, which brings confidence to me and helps me feel needed. My desire to be perfect in all I do is another problem which I have noticed. I realized that I need to spend more time with God and more attention to my relationship with Him.”
«“There are many stories and activities that happened at camp. I participated in Bible reading, had interesting conversations, met new people, interpreted for and communicated with John, went skiing for the first time, met with the team in the mornings and evenings for an overview, and had emotional moments while other students were sharing. As the conclusion, I understood the most important thing is that I need to spend more time with God in communication and prayer.”
