In October, God blessed the head coach of our Christian football/soccer team Nadia to hold a three-day trip to Zalissya with a group of U-10 boys. Some parents also went with their children. The theme of the camp was “The Story of One Disobedience.”
They studied the Book of Jonah which is found in the Bible. It was a very interesting and useful time, and they even had theological discussions.
At the beginning of the camp, something happened to one boy. The coach told him to stay in a room with other children, but after 15 minutes the roommates said they no longer wanted to stay in one room with him. After the conversation, he was put on a mattress in the hallway and offered to stay alone. After some time, he approached the coach, saying, “Uncle Sasha, you are right, every time I come to the camp, something happens to me.” After that, they had a long conversation about what to do when “something is happening.” Oleksandr shared a little about himself, and the boy realized that he was not the only one facing problems in relationships. We are all like that, without God “something happens” with us all.
The children enjoyed the camp, as they had Bible lessons, a lot of soccer games, and fun. It was a very blessed time for the mothers as well, who also heard what was taught in the Bible classes. And they simply left their children “with Uncle Sasha” and went to the forest to wander around and pick some mushrooms… They thank God that He works in their hearts. Some of them have already started attending church services in the Community of the Good Shepherd church in Rivne and, as they themselves testify, their “eyes were opened and they are on the path of seeking God.” There are positive changes in their lives and family relationships, they are interested in studying the Bible, where they find answers to many life questions.
