Each meeting of the editorial board of the Word to the Teacher magazine is always a joyful gathering of friends, an exchange of ideas, a discussion of topical issues of society and solving the publishing process issues, it is spiritual food and a common prayer.

Thank God for the opportunity to meet again on December 14 in Rivne and work fruitfully. This time, it was decided that the general theme of the issues in 2019 would be “The Family in the Light of the Bible”.

During the meeting, there were many thanks for the way the ministry of the Christian spiritually-enlightening and educational magazine Word to the Teacher was developed in 2018.

We are grateful to God for the diverse support of our edition by the All-Ukrainian Charity Fund “East European Humanitarian Mission”. Unfortunately, another public organization, which was our partner in the magazine’s publication, closed this year.

A significant part of the magazine’s circulation is distributed through a subscription via Ukrainian State Postal Service. Information about the magazine is available in the Catalog of subscription editions of Ukraine. Thank God, this year the number of subscribers has increased. Some copies are issued by churches, organizations and individuals.For many years now, the International Public Organization “Hope to People” has been a regular fan and friend of the magazine’s publishing.

To deliver information about the magazine to more potential subscribers, we used the Ukrainian State Postal Service for the delivery and sale of magazines in each post office in the Rivne region. As a result, starting from the second half of 2018, the circulation was increased from 2,000 to 2,500 copies.  Next year, we plan to do the same in Ternopil region.

We also distribute our magazines at various educational events, for example:

  •  at the international and All-Ukrainian pedagogical conferences in Kiev, Uzhgorod, Ostrog (Rivne region);
  •  at the seminar for methodologists of regional institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education (Kiev);
  •  at the All-Ukrainian festival “Teacher of the Year in the field of spiritual and moral education”;
  •  at the traditional contest “Young Bible Experts – 2018”;
  •  during the summer schools on academic integrity (Ostrog, Rivne region) and for methodologists of spiritual and moral courses (Vizhnitsa, Chernivtsi region);
  •  in the camp-seminar for teachers “Foundations of Faith”(Polyana , Transcarpathian region);
  •  on regional pedagogical conferences;
  •  at conferences of methodical associations and collegiums of teachers;
  •  during the celebration of the Day of preschool education in Rivne;
  •  at refresher courses for teachers of Christian ethics in Rivne and Ternopil Regional Institutes of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education;
  •  at meetings and round tables with the participation of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on cooperation with churches and religious organizations.

The 2018 issue materials were united by the topic “Practical Christianity”: Christianity and science, Christianity and society, Christianity and politics, Christianity and the idols of our time. All text materials of the journal in Ukrainian are available on http://slovovchitelyu.org/ in the public domain. The website is visited by more than 10,000 readers per month. This year there have been some changes: we changed the printing house, updated the design of our logo, and number 3 and number 4 were arranged by a new designer (this turned out to be temporary, so now we are looking for a Typesetter/Designer).

An important event of the outgoing 2018 was the meeting of the Word to the Teacher extended editorial board on June 21. After analyzing more than ten years of our ministry, we consulted regarding our future work, outlined a strategic line of development for the future, relying on the mercy and providence of the Lord in everything.

The members of the editorial board had an interesting presentation meeting with Christian entrepreneurs of the city of Rivne on October 17, 2018 in the premises of one of the Rivne schools. The purpose of the meeting was to popularize the Word to the Teacher magazine as the only Christian educational periodical in Ukraine and to enlist the support of businessmen. During communication, it was suggested that all Rivne secondary schools (72 institutions) together with all Rivne teachers of spiritual and moral education (more than 160 people) should be subscribed to the magazine. In the future, we plan to hold a reading conference for those teachers who receive the magazine. We pray for creation of the teachers’ Bible studies group and for conduction of the similar work in other cities of Ukraine.
