The life of our ministers in Armenia was filled with various events. New Yazidi families were able to hear the Good News, and some have accepted Christ. On the Easter, there was a solemn worship service and fellowship with brothers from the surrounding villages. Unfortunately, many young Yazidi believers are forced to leave the country for a long time in order to work in Russia. Nevertheless, the children’s ministry is continued in Kurdish villages. It’s amazing that after the zealous, all-night prayer in the Church for their country, the political situation in Armenia has changed.
Recently, we were so busy and our schedule was so filled with various events that I do not even know what to start with…
In fact, even this week I was a witness of such a miracle that it’s hard to even imagine. Praise the Lord, another Yazidi family accepted Christ! Pray for them, this is the father-in-law and mother-in-law of our brother Roman. It was a real miracle of God… their son Hado was almost unconscious with very high temperatures – close to forty. Brother Sevak and I prayed, and in just five minutes this guy got up and asked something to eat and his high temperature has dropped completely! Praise the Lord for this! I’m surprised, as the Lord, especially in the last month, gives us people who have an open hearts.
Please pray for this family. They live so far off in the mountains and they are very poor, basically, they live on the street. The other day we were there and spent time with them.
“Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! “That’s how the April began. On April 1, we had Easter in Armenia. And, as always, there were a lot of people in our church. The Yazidis came from different regions, and there were many non-believers. In our Sunday school, our children performed well, there was a lot of activities in the program. There were a lot of people in the church, and there were no empty seats. On Easter, I preached on the topic: “Has Christ risen in your life?” Then there was a mutual dinner and fellowship.
These are Yazidi boys from S. We were sitting and talking together with them after the service. It’s not really good thing that 24 Yazidi-Kurds will go to Russia to work after the Easter and will return only in the fall. Indeed, the heart is breaking that these guys are leaving and nobody stopped them. They will return only in the fall, I’m not sure about their spiritual state after a while. But we try to be in touch with them, and please pray that the Lord will protect them there.
Before Easter, we had a church-wide three-day fast, and on Thursday evening we had a night prayer. We fellowshipped all night long, read the Bible and prayed.
And then, we broke down in groups, went out and started praying for the city. We went by the hospitals, ministries, various government agencies, praying that the Lord would bless and change our country. This is our prayer group at five in the morning.
Back then we could not imagine that a month later after this night prayer we will live in a completely different country.
I’ll just cut to the chase. You’ve probably heard about our so-called “velvet revolution.” So, in the middle of April, for two weeks, almost 20 days without a single shot, without a single drop of blood, the Lord has changed our entire country. The people stood up, as one man and said “No!” to this corrupt government, the authorities and all of this structure, which has already sold everything from our country. They were getting rich themselves, but people lived in poverty and had to leave the country. So, the head of the country was the first who resigned, and then after a while his entire government did the same.
We continue to visit the Yazidi villages and thank all those who prayed for the Easter evangelism to the Kurds. In the village of S., brother J. has the children gathering every Saturday, and the brothers come together on Thursdays. Here is another fresh photo from the village of R., where the Yazidi temple is being built.
Please continue to pray for evangelism and for the strengthening in faith of those who accepted Christ.
With love in Christ,
Your brother Arthur Marandyan
