In late summer and early fall, many fascinating events took place in the life of our Christian floor hockey club “SKY.”
In mid-August, we went together on a traditional team trip to the Carpathian. This is always an exciting and difficult time.
This is a place where we can see each other without masks as we are. This is a time when our character hardens in difficult circumstances, when we have to carry heavy backpacks, pitch tents and put them back together, look for firewood, cook up food and do dishes in icy mountain water. But the most valuable time during the trip is the morning Bible lessons.
This time we studied the topic “How Do You Know that God Is Your Father” based on the first epistle of John. We learned about who God’s children were, taking stock of our lives to see if we fit this category, and talked about being a child of God only through faith in our Lord Christ.
At the very end of the summer, as a senior team, we held pre-season meetings, where we worked a lot physically and spiritually. Every day we had 2-3 trainings and 2 Bible lessons. We worked on our bodies and spirits. Together with the boys, we discussed the relative topic of “What the Bible Says About Sexuality,” that is, how we should live in relation to this topic, and that only with Christ we are really able to keep ourselves from sinning in this area and that only He can cleanse us from sins we already done before.
But one of the most important events in the history of the club became an entering into the covenant with God through the water baptism of four of our players. Three of them grew up in unbelieving families, and they heard the gospel for the first time at our training. As the years went by, God changed their hearts through the study of God’s Word and gave them new birth. We are very grateful to God for these miracles that He performs in the hearts of boys and girls, those are the fruits of enduring ministry.
We’re thankful for their burning hearts toward God and are already serving others through floor hockey so that other children, like them, can hear the gospel and that God would give them new life. Praise God for His love to us and for what He has done and is doing in people’s hearts through floor hockey ministry.
